Cute little piece arranged by the composer for piano. Compared to the guitar arrangement it has a very different feel to it, very 1920's. Cadiz is a port city on the very southern tip of Spain, in Andalusia.

I love Albeniz's charming miniatures and this is lovely. Thanks for posting.

(Good to see you, Jeffrey! Been a while, hasn't it?)

Very nice, thanks!
Including for saying where Cadiz is. Always helpful (and educational!) to say something like that.

I first heard of the city from a music thing -- one of the little arrangements in the John Schaum series, which was what my kidhood teacher used with me.
I wasn't sure who the composer was (turns out it was Delibes) nor what was the exact name ("Maids of Cadiz") -- but I did remember how it goes. Wasn't sure I was remembering the right thing, but was able to see by googling that I was.

Your post caught my eye as I've been into Spanish-sounding pieces lately and I haven't heard of this piece and its piano arrangement. It's harmonies and rhythms are delightful and soothing to listen to! I love how it sounds on your Chickering, and enjoy the contrasts you've highlighted between the major and minor sections. You've made those finicky embellishments look easy too. I'm inspired now to look for more piano arrangements of pieces featuring the spanish guitar, thanks!

Your piano sounds great and the recording is quite good. In the suite espagnola (initially without cadiz), each piece is associated with a dance or song style specific to a particular area of spain, a saeta in the case of cadiz. It is a very refined piece, which was written for piano by the composer. Thanks for posting.

Love it. I only recently started trying to play Spanish stuff and it's been very rewarding. My goal is to tackle Triana at some point, but this performance has made me realize that there's plenty of material to enjoy without having to bust one's knuckles learning it. This piece is a gem. Thank you for sharing your wonderful interpretation.
