Kawai’s “PianoRemote” control app for supported digital and hybrid pianos, is now available for iOS and Android devices from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store respectively.

It’s worth noting that this app is web-based, and will update automatically when necessary. Indeed after installing and running the app for the first time, please quit the app, then restart to ensure the UI is fully up-to-date.

The app can function in “Demo Mode” (without the need to connect to a Kawai instrument), so please feel free to give it a try and post feedback or comments in this thread.

Do you know why the USER sounds category isn't on the remote app?

James- Will the app be supporting any additional instruments when they come out? Seems like that is the intent. Could be super useful on something like an MP12, just saying...

I would like to give a bit of feedback to Kawai James. On my ipad air (3rd gen), the ‘piano screen’ has a problem. I am stuck to the selected piano, as I cannot swipe to the left or right. The “sounds” and “music” screens however don’t have any swiping problems.
Sometimes it works the first time when I start the app, the first time after a reboot. More often it doesn”t work.
I made a short youtube videoclip to show what works, and what doesn”t. I run the latest ios version, 13.4.1.

Thank you for detailed bug report, and for reposting in this thread.

I have an iPad Air 1st gen. running iOS 12.4.5 (the latest available for this old device), and left/right swiping works fine on the "piano" screen.

Do you experience the same behaviour when the iPad is in landscape orientation?
I notice that you have the AssistiveTouch accessibility feature enabled in iOS. May I ask if you're using an specific functions/extensions?

I've passed your report on to the development team, who will investigate the cause of this issue.

However, I'm not entirely sure the touch-based PianoRemote interface is ideally suited to a stage piano.

Thanks for passing it to the developers. As I used to work as a software developer myself, I know that technically detailed bug reports are welcomed

The problem manifests itself in both orientations. By the way, if I change to a different piano in the “sound screen”, the “piano screen” changes to that specific piano (SK-EX, EX, SK-5, standupJ but the swiping behavior is still broken as shown in the video.

I activated the AssistiveTouch, because I hoped it would visualize on the video where and how the screen would be touched. However that didn”t work out as hoped, and I deactivated it. Without AssistiveTouch activated the faulty behaviour is still the same.

No worries about the delay.

Re. using a touchscreen remote interface for a theoretical MP12-- it would depend on if settings were available on the touchscreen easily that weren't already available on the piano's main set of buttons. If a setting is buried in menus, it's pretty hard to find. If I was trying to create and save some settings it could allow me tweak the settings more quickly than doing it just on the piano itself. I'd prefer if the MP12 had a more "one-to-one" interface than the MP11SE does now, go even more towards the Nord/Yamaha CP88 style interface.

It would be cool if the "speed types" of the Metronom (a very clever, fast and authentic idea) would also be available for the drum section.

It’s obviously not a major problem, but probably an easy fix

Interestingly, I just got my CA99 in this morning and it doesn’t seem to be an issue in the app on the piano. Just on my android phone and iPad
