If the screen actually completely switches off instead of turns grey we will die happy.

How does REC work in this app ? Is it like REC USB to device ? For example CN29 has neither USB nor LINE OUT.

If the Recording Format setting is set to SMF (default), PianoRemote will record the performance as a MIDI file. This works for both wired (USB/MIDI) and wireless (Bluetooth MIDI) connections.

If the format is changed to WAV, FLAC, or AAC, PianoRemote will record the performance as a audio file using the device's internal microphone. If an audio interface is also connected to the the device, and the instrument's audio output is connected to the audio interface, PianoRemote will record the audio via the interface.

Kind regards,
James

Hello folks,

A brief post to inform you that PianoRemote app v1.1.4 has been released, with various improvements to User Sounds, the ability to set the default poweron sound for ATX4/AR2 instruments, and a countermeasure for Android 13 that should resolve Bluetooth MIDI connectivity issues.

What's the app good for? ^^

It doesn't provide extra functions not available from the main panel..
sound selection and USB recording is easy enough without an app, Maybe it's good as an interface for the the Piano editor? not sure
I wonder whether Kawai has a plan of upgrading some sound or features for the ES920...
Any info on that James?

I think that's pretty clear, isn't it?

Well, perhaps you can give the app a try and let us know? wink

Seriously, some customers like/prefer to use an app to control their piano. The ES920 panel has quite a lot of buttons and is relatively easy to navigate, however some models such as the KDP120 or ES120 have fewer buttons and no display, so controlling the piano using an app is much more intuitive. Having said that, I watched an ES920 review the other day and it appears that the owner uses the PianoRemote app for everything, so it's clear that different users have different needs - there's no right or wrong way to control your instrument. wink

Not that I'm aware of.

Although I think the navigation system for selecting the voices, changes in the Virtual Technician, etc. are fairly straightforward for the CA-59, I'll look forward to using the app as well when it becomes available for that series!

Please note that the CA59 is already supported:

Oh yeah, I didn't think about ES-110 owners.. For me, the ES920 is super easily to navigate and I DID try the app couple of months ago, didn't fire it up again cause it's just simpler and faster to use the buttons on the interface. Actually some of the interface design is pretty clever like +/- values for the ROTARY, and long press for additional amp effect settings... etc.

For me it would be great if the app would let use the extra voices that are in the ES920 that are listed on page 10 of the midi settings manual like nylon gutar, etc.

You can get to those voices by looping the midi ports with a single cable. Turn off local control and turn on multi timbral. Send program change numbers. Sounds are a bit reverby.

Once a sound is selected, I believe it can be stored as a Registration memory also, serving as some kind of "selection button". This may also be possible within the PianoRemote app using the User Sounds function.

Cheers,
James

Thank you! I haven't needed or wanted to make a lot of changes to the main piano voice but I sometimes do and it will be nice to just be able to use my IPhone.

User Sounds are created and stored from within the PianoRemote app, they are independent of the Registration memories stored on the ES920 itself.

In the ES110 owner's manual, the following note is written:

* When the ES110 digital piano is connected to a smart device via Bluetooth MIDI, the MIDI IN/OUT connectors will be disabled.

I cannot find a similar note about USB-MIDI in the ES120 owner's manual, however while I didn't write the manual for that model, I expect it may have a similar limitation.

Hello, I own a k300 and rely on piano remote but I have some problems with it :
Piano remote with ios17beta doesn’t work at all . As soon as the app is open ,it makes some really strange sound even if the volume is off..
I tested this with iPad Pro and iphone12 pro , both have the same problems.
This is apple fault and maybe with the release of the official ios17 everything will be fine.
