Hi,

To fill in a bit of self-isolation time, I wanted to test a few sound reproduction solutions using my new Behringer UCA202 USB audio converter. Which file do you think is the most pleasing sound to your ears? (I make no apologies for the playing - too cold / not enough practice etc.). If anyone's interested I'll let you know what was generating the 4 files later.

Many thanks.

2 > 1/4 > 3

3 was the only one that sounded kind of thin. The others were very nice, liked them all but 2 had a nice warmth to it.

Thx Joe.

Number 3 is the naked sound of my Avantgrand N2.

The others are (not in any order), CFX, CFX blend with N2, Pianoteq (Bechstein) blend with N2.

Garriton CFX? Could you say exactly which number was which sound sample, or are you waiting for more feedback first?

Sure - looks like not much appetite for feedback!

1= CFX Lite / N2
2= CFX Lite
4= PT / N2

I prefer the pure sound of CFX, but there are notes around C6 that are too strident/loud. If I understood the "gate" control on the Equaliser, maybe I could do something about it. I find the touch of CFX slightly too heavy in effect (with the default curve) as well.

That leaves me with my default solution of a PT/N2 mix, and because PT allows for individual note tuning, I can iron out tuning disparities.

Ah interesting. So have you tried adjusting the curve in CFX Lite?

Yes. It then changes the timbre too much.

It feels as if you need a deeper key-press with CFX than PT, and I'm not sure that the velocity curve would affect this.

I am not particularly in love with any, but 4 is my choice also.
