The Cunningham Piano Online Ensemble made the Washington Post!! “ In a time of uncertainty, classical music provides a sense of permanence.” Amen.

Goodbye Mister Upright (Yamaha YUS5), hello Estonia L168.

Thank you so much for this, Rich! I shared it with my sister who lives close to your Cherry Hills location. She loved it too.

Really? Please have her stop by and see me - better yet YOU visit HER.... and visit me while you are in town.

I also got an email that Making Music magazine featured us: https://makingmusicmag.com/global-ensemble-heals-the-world/

Unfortunately, that is not true.

I can manage Clarinet, Piano or Synth. But I can guarantee that anyone who asks me to sing, will instantly regret it.

I dusted off my 38 year old Yamaha Clarinet that I last used in high school. This project inspired me to have it overhauled and to toot the old horn again. There should be more projects like this online pandemic or not. This is a great idea. I preferred the piano much over the clarinet because the entire orchestra is at your fingertips. But this allows for virtual collaboration.

Working on:

Bach/Busoni Chaconne in D minor BWV 1004
Preludio: Bach/Rachmaninoff E Major Sonata for Violin
Chopin: G Minor Ballade

A little follow up:

So, today the local newspaper in South Jersey (right across the river from Philadelphia) featured our project on their front page!

How cool is that??

In the same vein, here's a choral piece put together by a group in Jakarta in which my brother-in-law sings!

Thanks, Lady Bird! I keep going back to re-listen. My wife was always really proud of her baby brother. He sang at our wedding, and also at her memorial service.

Funny story: when I was arranging the music for Mrs. Retsacnal's memorial, the music director admitted to me after-the-fact that he had thought, "ok, yeah, another singing relative..." But after her service, he asked my brother-in-law if he'd come back on Sunday morning and sing again!

He studied Accounting, but also studied music at a nearby conservatory while he was in college. He's a gifted singer, and a pretty good pianist too. I can listen to him play for hours.

Retsacnal
Thank you for sharing that. So your brother in law is quite the musician ! I loved listening to that piece and also the way it starts with those young ladies voices lifting up like that, then the other voices joining in.Really uplifting.
