What’s a good repair for this other than replacing?

I am thinking hot stuff CA glue is probably the best way to go.

Replacement is always the safest, but if you are going to try it, remove the pin first and then glue and clamp. I have drilled a hole through the eye and put a tiny dowel through to give it more strength. But often the wood crumbles.

Greetings,
The "old-fashioned" way, i.e. traditional, is to remove the pin, cut a very thin kerf longitudinal (vertically) though the flange from its nose through the hole. Then glue a shim of veneer in, allow to dry. Then trim the repair flush with all surfaces and redrill the hole. Permanent.

I have done just as Ed Foote describes. You do need to remove the drop screw and I have found super glue works really well with this as you can put the veneer in place before you apply glue. The problem with water based glues is the veneer swells up so quickly it doesn't go all the way in, or at least you can't tell if it has. This way I don't re-drill the hole either. Super glue in the center pin hole will reduce the hole size about .002".

My first approach is to replace because its the easiest and quickest repair. I'll repair if the part is not available or if a new part would stick out as the only replaced piece. I use the saw kerf/veneer method for this as well.
