It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
Does anybody take online lessons with Cory Hall? Like everyone else, I’m trying to find an online teacher. There are a LOT out there but if anybody has firsthand experience, good or bad, please share publicly or privately.
He has some books on sight-reading, and fugue exercise?!? (well-tempered hanon).
Are they any good? I personally don't like he's way of playing... no feelings whatsoever
I feel the same about his playing. I'm using his sight reading stuff on Piano Marvel, it's good stuff, also find it much harder for the level they say it is compared to other material from the same level on Piano Marvel.
If you have the money, try Josh Wright, I've heard only great stuff about his teaching from various sources.
Cory Hall (AKA Bach Scholar) has no musicality. I would never hire him as a teacher. Josh Wright is amazing but it might be hard getting lessons from him (I think he does auditions before accepting students). With the current situation I believe a lot more teachers are going to start doing on-line lessons soon, or have started doing so already.
Probably safe to say the more famous the teacher is, the harder it is to get a lesson with them, and to what point. There is no guarantee just having a famous teacher, or a great teacher, will get you to where you want to get to it.
There are fine teachers everywhere and now most of them will be online due to the present pandemic, shouldn't be too hard to track them down.
This question should really be posted on the teachers forum as well to get a different perspective.

For what it's worth, I have been with these guys for a bit over a year now, and I've been told that they are busy but still have some capacity: https://musiclessonsanywhere.net/
Despite the fact that it says they offer Skype lessons, it's actually Zoom that they use.
Q: Am I late beginner, or early intermediate? A: Yes!
