I'm not personally in the market to buy a new piano (what I have is suiting me just fine, thanks) I noticed that the Long & McQuade website (the largest musical instrument chain in Canada) that they're now just offering curbside pickup or delivery of purchases, you can no longer enter the store to try stuff out.
And in Saskatchewan, musical instrument stores are specifically listed as "non-essential" businesses that are not allowed to do customer-facing transactions, though they can still do curbside pickup and delivery as they are doing. (My business, a movie theatre, was specifically ordered to close completely.)
That'll make a pretty substantial dent in musical instrument sales until the virus thing is over, I would think.
I wonder how many other musical instrument stores are doing the same, with no way to demonstrate or try out new instruments?

Logistics can also be affected. PianoManChuck has a video about Casio's U.S. logistics center closing.

In Saskatchewan, both liquor and cannabis stores have been declared to be essential services, but vaping supply stores are not.
So you can still get drunk or high but you can't vape.

So you can still get drunk or high but you can't vape. I think it's necessary to consider the wellbeing of everyone in a household. I can imagine some people would be a nightmare to live with if they have withdrawal symptoms from alcohol or nicotine, especially when there's no escape. As a separate issue, it must be terrifying for anyone living in a dysfunctional home at the moment.

Here you soon can't get drunk in a bar anymore, as some already closed voluntarily and the rest will soon be forced to close. So, one needs to get drunk at home. But we are known for doing that anyway: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeand...while-wearing-pants-became-the-new-hyggeNot me though. 😇 And on the topic of (digital) pianos, I could still visit the local music stores, apparently. But I guess it's a time for playing and not G.A.S.ing.

Absolutely. It's a worrying time. A lot of households are dysfunctional, and being able to get out and let off steam on your own can be the difference between keeping it together and exploding into domestic mayhem.

I was lucky, then unlucky.
I got a great deal on a 1 year old MP7SE, then coronovirus covid-19 hit just as I was trying to sell my MP7 lol. Nobody has shown any interest in it of course, as we're on total lock-down here in the UK.

I'm in the market for a new digital piano but it can wait. On the bright side, I live on a farm and have thousands of additional available acres out my back door. Social distancing isn't a problem here.
Everyone stay safe and well and use this time to make music.
