I've been playing the piano since Jan '18.
More recently, I passed Grade 6 with distinction and plan to take Grade 7 in late 2021.

I am documenting my progress, recitals and experiences of learning how to play the piano as an adult on my YouTube channel.

There are so many things going on this year. I am way behind schedule... I need to learn a few easier pieces to get back on track for the 40 pieces. Anyway, updating my list with two challenging pieces that I have been working for a while.

1 - H. Villa Lobos - Bachianas Brasileiras No.4 - I. Prelúdio
2 - Haydn Sonata (Divertimento) in G Major - Hob. XVI:8 - III. Andante
3 - Haydn Sonata (Divertimento) in G Major - Hob. XVI:8 - IV. Allegro
4 - Shostakovitch - Lullaby from the Ballet Suite No.3 (transcription) - Recorded in two pianos, comparison between grand and upright.
5 - Tchaikovsky - Old French Song - Op.39 No.16
6 - Heller - Etude Op.46 No.11
7 - Bach - Invention No.8 in F major - BWV 779
8 - Chopin - Waltz in C sharp minor - Op.64 No.2

1. F. Burgmüller, Op. 100 n. 15 (Ballade) (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
2. F. Burgmüller, Op. 100 n. 16 (Douce Plainte) (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
3. J.S. Bach, Little Prelude in E minor, BWV 938 (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
4. F. Burgmüller, Op. 100 nr. 17 (Babillarde) (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
5. B. Arens, Prelude I (From "21 Amazingly Easy Pieces") (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
6. F. Burgmüller, Op. 100 nr. 18 (Inquietude) (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
7. B. Arens, Prelude II (From "21 Amazingly Easy Pieces") (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
8. R. R. Bennett, Rosemary's Waltz (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
9. B. Arens, Blues (From "21 Amazingly Easy Pieces") (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
10. F. Burgmüller, Op. 100 nr. 19 (Ave Maria) (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
11. B. Arens, Prelude III (From "21 Amazingly Easy Pieces") (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
12. M. Mier, Lazy Days (From "Jazz, Rags & Blues", Bk. 2) (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)

19. B. Arens, Minuet (From "21 Amazingly Easy Pieces") (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)
20. M. Clementi, Op. 36 Nr. 1 M. 1 (hearthis.at)
21. B. Arens, Sarabande (From "21 Amazingly Easy Pieces") (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)

Soundcloud removed my upload of Clementi due to copyright infringement. I filed a dispute, but I don't think it will help. The same thing happened to my recording of “Pastorale” by Burgmüller on hearthis.at, I sent a message to them and got no answer. I cannot even feel flattered, because I’m pretty sure, that the decision was made based on the title and not on the quality of my playing grin

23. B. Arens, Chaconne(From "21 Amazingly Easy Pieces") (Soundcloud, hearthis.at)

"Elizabeth" is my second Grade 7 piece (ABRSM) after "Rosemary's Waltz". I know that I could improve it further, and I probably will, but now I just need a break from it.

Starting a bit late but still hoping to hit a December 31 2020 deadline! I'm giving myself a goal of recording 40 videos. I have played a handful of pieces this year already, which I'll plan to record first, and then I'll start tackling some easier music :-)

1. Etude Op. 10 no. 4 - Chopin

Unless I mention otherwise, I always like constructive feedback.

Easier you say? Is there anything harder?
Please don't tell us you've played the piano for 4 or 5 years because I quit. I promise.

I love your Étude.

No I have a bit more of a head start than that! I played starting around 5, and started taking classical music more seriously around 12. I got part way through a music degree when I decided to stop drop out of the degree program. Last fall I decided to start practicing more seriously again after more than a handful of years of not playing much at all, and I've been really enjoying it!

Thank you so much; the etude took quite a bit of work! I'm definitely impressed by your videos as well! You have a very nice tone. I'm really enjoying the Bach!

I'll see what ends up on my list! I'm currently working on Chopin's first ballade and Kapustin first piano sonata, we'll see if I get them to a point where I'm happy with the recording! Hopefully I can get another video up tonight; next video should be the Minute Waltz!
