I have a sticking damper on my Yamaha GC1. I suspect it just needs some lubrication. Any suggestions how to do a DIY fix? It's almost impossible to get a tech since we live very far from any city.

You can try this assuming the damper is regulated correct and not traveling something other than vertical:
Carefully lift the offending damper block with your fingers and release it. If it hangs up this can indicate either a tight damper lift lever flange bushing or a tight damper guide rail bushing.
For the former it’s not so easy of a fix but the latter isn’t so bad and if you look at where the damper wire goes through the guide rail, your eye can see a tight bushing.
I still have a makeshift tool for that.
The old umbrellas had metal support members that were half round and a perfect size and shape to fit into the guide rail bushing. Just heat it slightly with a heat gun and carefully Iron the felt to open it up.
For the former you likely need a tech, the action needs to come out and maybe more.
