Wow that must be taxing on his arms, legs and neck. It guess it's also very hard to play a good note pure on strength rather than gravity. How did he practice this performance?

I guess just about anything passes for "performance art" these days. This one: I just don't get it. What a waste of time, effort and money!

I call BS on this. Grand piano actions require gravity to work.

Absolutely true. Unless there's some artificial mechanism pulling on the hammers, repetitions, dampers, etc.

The article states that the action was remade to work vertically.

I like the idea of it, but it lost me when they mentioned that the playing was being amplified with 4 microphones capturing the sound and then using speakers to project that to the audience.

That was a disappointment for me. To hear an acoustic piano like that would have been an interesting experience.

You probably would not hear anything, even the wind would be louder than the tiny noise coming from that piano 30 meters away.
