I have a digital baby grand baldwin Pianovelle 2600 I am trying to sell and i was wondering if anyone had a general idea how much one of those goes for? Its been rarely used, all the piano players moved out. I called a few piano stores around me and was told they dont know anyone that does digital appraisals.

It's a niche product and the new owner might not find anyone to service it in case anything goes wrong.

I believe it was made for Baldwin by the Italian General Music company which went bankrupt almost two decades ago.

If it's made by General Music the technology was good for it's time and the key action was probably something mediocre from the similarly Italian company Fatar.

Maybe a nice round figure of $1000(?) 🤔

I've seen $700 asking price online. But does that mean anything? What matters is the selling price.

Anyway ... a thing is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. So appraisals mean nothing.

The hardest part is finding a buyer. Large objects like pianos don't ship easily so you'll need to find a local buyer.

Another possibility ... can you find a piano dealer who will sell it on consignment?

Mac is right, listing price isn't very useful, selling/concluding price is. For some reason, many digital piano owners don't realize that they're buying quickly-obsoleted computer hardware, and get in their heads the idea that their instrument is some kind of vintage antique that will rise in value with age. So they often post completely unrealistic asking prices, and unsurprising these never sell.

Because it's based on the old GEM technology (which was very effective for its time) this piano's failure is an inevitability. Of course all electronics fail eventually but the General Music pianos all seemed to pack up and, from what I can gather, repair is seldom possible due to the lack of parts.

I agree with clotheared - $1000 maximum. And I think you'd be lucky to get it. Don't sell it to a friend because you'll feel bad when it breaks!

If the few hundred dollars isn't hugely important to you then you might feel better about giving it away (no guilt when it fails) - to a school or community project or something.
