I didn't see one for this month, sorry if I missed it. Since it Valentine's Day, I thought I would share the following. What love song will you play today :P

Very lovely. There is a lot of good sheet music out there in the internet. Sorry, but I do not have a recording ready that I could submit to this month's Piano Bar.

My One and Only Love arr. Liz Story

I'll provide a few Valentine's Day submissions from the past -- things that I provided 4 or 5 years ago. The first is one of my favorites from the American Standards, provided by one my favorite arrangers, Liz Story.

My Funny Valentine -- arr Marian McPartland

My second submission is Marian McPartland's extended Jazz take on Richard Rodgers' "My Funny Valentine".

All I Know -- Jimmy Webb

My last submission is one of the great love songs from the pen of Jimmy Webb -- "All I Know", made popular by Art Garfunkel in the early 70s, afterhe parted ways with Paul Simon.

Very nice Tim! Great music to keep you warm and cozy in Madison. I can't say that I miss the winters there smile

Tim,
Your three numbers were so lovely. I have been absent for quite a while, but listening to your music I feel an urge to get back to the piano bar very soon.
thanks,
Ian

Bsharpcyclist, thanks for opening the bar. Nice work on Right Here Waiting, you played very well, with a sort of wistful feel. Perfect for the occasion.

Tim, what a gorgeous arrangement of My One and Only Love! Wonderful reharms abound! And of course, MMcP's arrangement of MFV was superb too. I don't think I had heard that Jimmy Webb song before; but it was very listenable. Exquisite playing on all three!

My piece for February is You don't Know What Love Is. This is a somewhat melancholy song written by Don Raye and Gene de Paul. It was brought into the jazz world by Miles Davis and has become a jazz standard. I am playing it unaccompanied from a lead sheet.

My fingers are slow, but easily keep pace with my thoughts.
