C-5 was re-pinned and was left like this: https://youtu.be/0LUy07l17Ow
I have now asked the Baldwin CEO Tom Dorn to dispatch a Baldwin factory tech to take care of growing issues and I will be sure to underwrite once I get a quote. As I looked inside the action, I see the C-5 hammer bobbling more than once on a single strike.

Sorry to hear of your continued issues with your new Baldwin grand, shirlkirsten. Hopefully, the right person at Baldwin will make sure the issues are corrected, or the piano replaced.

Hope it all works out for the best.

Rick

It would be nice if a tech could explain how this happens, I don't understand the mechanism.

It might be a number of things. Loosening a joint can mean that the spring tension is now too high. Then checking may not be as reliable, or there may not be enough aftertouch or something like that, so a looser joint makes double-striking more likely.

Looks like the piano is heading for replacement. Pouring in money to know avail is getting tiresome.

Sometimes lemons come through. It's a pain in the neck when it seems we got one. Been there done that.

It will get fixed when they send someone who actually understands actions.
