Hey everyone, hope you're well.

I was really impressed with the tone of what appears to be a digital piano that Alma Deutscher is playing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXx9rnK95Ug

Any idea what model piano this is?

Thanks heaps
Fotis

It’s either a Kawai CA78 or CA98.

Agreed. My guess would be the CA98.

Hey, thanks for that video. I'm not informed enough, and hadn't seen her before. What a talented young woman!

Yes, definitely worth a second look. If you haven't seen it already, check out her siren sounds walz:

There are PW threads discussing Alma:

As in the OP's video, she sings too - here is a duet from the opera she composed when she was 11yo:

She composes her librettos in German herself, and speaks several languages.

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. Yah, I love how in the first video, she practically apologizes because we won't hear the song with a professional singer, and have to make due with her, and then she starts singing and has a very lovely voice! smile

She is like the daughter all the pianists would like to have. smile

Very interesting that in the first video that SK-EX piano timbre from the DP internal speakers (+ soundboard?) is much "darker" than what I'm used to. And the natural reverb of that room is very nice... It makes the sound more pleasant to listen to. My DP internal speakers sounds awful in my room, but the piano is close to the wall and I have furniture on the right and left of it. Probably not the best position...

It's difficult to tell from that angle, however I believe you may be right - the upper board is a little taller on the CA98.

Alma is undoubtedly a genius.

Kind regards,
James

Thank you so much everyone! I have played a CA78 and was greatly impressed at the time (was by far the best of the top end Roland, Yamaha and Kawai DPs imho), so I guess it makes sense that I love the sound of it here too.

Alma is indeed a incredible! Her solo piano music is sublime too smile
