I have participated in this forum for a number of years, so I know you are a long standing member, who has contributed many of your compositions and offered many comments and suggestions. I do not remember ever reading anything negative which you posted. And have often listened to your compositions with only one wish ... that they could be offered on an acoustic piano ( or good electronic one). And that you had provided a score so I could try them. That's all.

So I'm one of your readers who wants more ... not less.

I believe that the laws regarding copyright apply to these forums as well. As soon as something is published publicly with your name affixed, it is yours. I own every brilliant comment I made to a number of physics magazines and if my theory regarding dark matter is claimed by someone else ... heck I can challenge him. With a single published letter.
"Hey buddy ... that's MY idea ... so hand over that Nobel Prize. STAT! " eek

Just a thought for you. Why not add the scores to each piece ... affix your copyright to the bottom of each page ( which in my program is automatic) and leave everything out there. For people to download, play and enjoy.

I have very few heroes in my life. I'm cranky as a bear. But one of them is Domenico Zipoli ... a relatively unknown composer who left Italy in 1717, sailing across the Atlantic to become a missionary in Paraguay working with the Guarani natives. But somehow his music survived ... to be resuscitated in the 1920's and made available to generations of musicians over 200 years later. I'm one of his devotees ... I play his beautiful work and am humbled by the durability of wonderful music. It somehow survives. And is treasured today.

I write my modest compositions, fueled by the image of Zipoli. When I found a recording of one of my pieces by some student in Europe on some unknown site, I was stunned to see the notes living under a stranger's fingers.

So my advice would be. Don't leave our Forum. Your pieces are safe by virtue of them being here. And I don't remember any comments you might regret.

I'd say ... full throttle ahead. Give us the scores ( with your copyright on each page.) laugh grin

I regret that this is not possible. My health is so bad that I had to quit composing new works. I am unable to honor your request concerning scores.

Best,

Larry G. Alexander

Larry, I think the first step is to formulate exactly what you want. For example, I think your concern is actually about your works being public. That you no longer want access to your compositions (the mp3's?) via this site. Then the question is: how to make that happen. Your links to your mp3's go somewhere ..... I think you have that source, rather than that it is stored on PianoWorld. If you can get rid of the source, they won't appear here. You can also consult the site owner with your concerns.

Btw, I'm not young either, though you've just made me feel like a youngster. wink I get my adult sons to help me with some of these kinds of things. They know their way around more than I do as far as the Net is concerned. Maybe you know someone at your end who might help with this?

Hi Larry,

As has been already said, all your music is hosted on your own website.
The links you have posted on PW, merely point to your site.

You could rename all the links on your site, so that links posted here will lead nowhere, but if you are truly concerned about your audio files being stolen, or misused in some way, then your only remedy would be to delete them from your site, completely.

Sure Dogperson,
Some Rogers and Hammerstein would be nice. These are a few of My Favorite Things if you want to throw some other music in there.

Some Bach, Beethoven and Brahms and Schubert. Zipoli was mentioned, who is also one of my favorites along with Scarlatti.
Thank You I appreciate the offer.

BTW Larry, I'm very sorry you are ill, and I REALLY do hope you get better.

Any crticism's i expressed was for constructive purposes only not negativity. I was hoping to hear some human performances of your music, and also to purchase a couple of scores. Which I believe are not available.
All the Best.
