so basically, I am most likely going to be able to get the Kawai CA79 In december! Which is very exciting.
But until then, I am currently using a casio privia PX-110, its like 12 years old, and it plays, but its not the best at playing.

I just wonder, with how much times have changed, what would be the cheapest digital piano I could get, and have it still feel like an upgrade? (I could trade it back in december possibly if its from the same music store)
or would it be better to just rent a digital piano for these 11 months, since its such a short term?

If your concern is mostly sound (as opposed to action), the cheapest upgrade would be to plug it into a computer and run one of the more modestly priced piano VSTs, which can still be quite good. And it's something you'll still be able to use when you get your next piano.

Action is very subjective. Some people might say that the new Casio CDP-S100 at $450 is a significant upgrade in feel from your PX-110, but it's also possible that some may prefer the feel of the old one! I'm not sure there's anything cheaper than that that anyone thinks is particularly good.

Hello OP,

Trading in in December is fine but keep in mind that doing so may take away your ability to negotiate the price of the CA-79. The dealer may give you back what you paid for this keyboard but probably will not discount the price of the new piano.

Unless you absolutely cannot stand to play your PX-110 any longer, I'd consider hanging on to it until December.

Since you don't intend on keeping this next keyboard, buying used might be a good option.

I like to use PianoTeq with my piano, even though it sounds nice, the action is definitely what is getting to me.

I seem to agree, it might not be the best of ideas to buy a piano for such a short amount of time.
Im trying to look into renting a piano, and seeing if its worth it but im having a hard time finding rates online. Two stores near me do renting, but I would have to visit their locations to find out more about it. Would it be worth renting a digital piano for a few months?

Maybe something like the Roland FP-10 would be worth looking at to tide you over.

What's your location OP?
Since you already know you will only want this next piano for a few months, renting is definitely a good option. Add up the monthly rental fees plus other taxes & fees to see the total cost of renting because it may be much more than the $ per month advertised.
The second option would be to find a good used dp from a local seller. If you find a good deal, you may be able to sell it for the same or a little later. I bought a brand new PX-560 ($1200) from CL for $450 last year. The seller won it on The Price is Right and had no use for it. I have since bought a MP11se but kept the Casio because I had so little invested in it.
The last option would be to buy new.

Im thinking of selling my PX-110, and using the money to do a down payment on a few month financing of a FP-10 (I don't think the PX-110 would sell for much), and in December, i sell the FP-10. This seems like a great plan, but I feel I might be missing something.

I would suggest buying the FP10 and then just hanging on to it. It's always good to have a slab piano around in case of travel, jams, gigs, etc.

Decent upright bassist; aspiring decent pianist
Present: Roland FP-30, Casio CDP-130
Future: Kawai CA79?
Past: Casio PX-830, Casio PX-160
Etc.: Roland KC-80, PianoTeq (Bluethner, U4, Vibes, Xylo)

That is definitely not a bad idea, being able to take it places does seem nice.

If you buy a brand new FP-10 for $499 plus tax, you'll probably be able to sell it for $300-$325 in December. Only you know if it's worth it. That's if you even like the FP-10 smile
Of course if you can find a good used FP-10 for $325 (they're out there), your loss will be minimal comes December.
