Two other forum members and I have been seeing database errors all afternoon/evening on PW when accessing different parts of this forum. For us, these errors all look like:

[Linked Image]

This message will appear repeatedly continually, then 10-20 mins later, everything will appear fine for a few click before the error will recur and continually repeat again. This has been happening all day. Between errors, the forum will behave normally for from 1-20 clicks before this same error happens again.

Has anyone else been having this happen? How can this be reported to the PW system administrator?

Same here, + 6.

Thought maybe it was my Chrome browser, so I tried Firefox, and MS Edge, and got the same error message.

We were being slammed by bots, primarily from China, but some from Russia and some from Singapore. Working on finding a way to minimize the chances.

The web site is insecure. Can you secure it somehow?

The recitals page (http://recitals.pianoworld.com) is now broken and gives this error:

Frank - let us know if you need to hire somebody with the requisite expertise to help. Heck, do a GoFundMe if it's expensive. PianoWorld is well worth the effort.

Why PianoWorld is the target for bots mystifies me unless it's "target practice" for something bigger, just a way to hone skills at the Hogwarts School for Hackers, or something like that. Last time I checked, politics is pretty much a banned subject here.

This strikes me as so odd. Why on earth would someone (somebot) target PW? There's nothing to be gained here AFAIK.

There's 10s of thousands of users and passwords - a lot of people use the same password for everything. Any forum with a large membership can be a goldmine of information to hackers, sad to say.

Membership data as the database contains name, birthdate and password
Protect yourself by using a unique passcode not shared with sites that have your financial information

I belong to another forum where the number of ‘guests’ yesterday was double the expected. I suspect the same attempt
