I'm wondering what exactly is a split keyboard and how to use it.
Do the Roland FP-90 and the Yamaha P515 have this feature?

Playing different sounds on different parts of the keyboard. For example, playing a bass line with your left hand while playing a different sound with your right.

Thanks anotherscot. The FP-90 owner's manual describes it as you stated. I was wondering if a keyboard could be split at middle C and allowing student/teacher to play simultaneously. Seems like I have seen that feature advertised on some keyboard.

I've seen that feature on quite a few pianos but usually under a different term than "split".

Yes, some pianos have that. I think one of the names that feature goes by is duet. Though any keyboard that supports split should let you do it, it just may take more button presses. You'd have to split the board, assign piano to both sides of the split, and then shift the octaves of the different sections so they each have the key range you want them to have.

Okay, now I get it. It's called, Duet mode. Knowing the correct term, a quote from the Piano Buyer review of the FP-90 explains the feature. Here is what it says:
"I was surprised not to find a straightforward “duet” mode to let a student and teacher sit side by side while playing notes in the same range. The workaround is to save a piano-piano split with each side of the keyboard appropriately octave-shifted."

That is what I was looking for.
Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it!
