How bad do you think this piano would be, lol? No, it's not something I'm buying. It was found in a storage unit and is being offered to me. It's not set up, I have absolutely no idea what it's like. I'm just taking pity on it because it was abandoned and the finder doesn't want to put anything into it, and doesn't have a space to set it up and tune it, etc., so he can actually sell it. Why, I have no idea, but that's the situation. I do have some friends in the industry so I could potentially have it moved, set up and stored. Is this a terrible idea? Am I acting on my emotions? Should I care at all? 😂😂😂

Input please and thank you!

Let it go. It is not a classic piano and is not worth your intervention. The owner should advertise it as a free piano on Craig’s list and piano adoption.

Oooh, piano adoption, I forgot about that! That's a good idea, thanks! He has it listed on Facebook Marketplace right now. Let me try and get a link....

I do not have a FB acct but I can see the list price at 1 million. Ludicrous

For some reason that defies logic, some Facebook sellers enter the price of goods as "1234567". It makes zero sense, especially when you consider that if someone is filtering for price, your listing absolutely will not be seen.

Yeah, I have no idea why people do that. Generally one would put $1 if looking for offers. *shrug*

More importantly, why are there some less than professional movers out there who insist on moving a piano without its lid attached? Having spent years like this, the inside of this piano is now a mess.

That's what I was wondering, as well. It seems very unprofessionally handled.

Just an update that someone adopted the piano and will be rebuilding it! I love happy piano endings! ❤️❤️❤️

Skeptic that I am, but from what I've read on this thread, I wouldn't be too sure that this is a "happy piano ending." Rebuilding an abandoned Wurlitzer found in a storage unit? Money pit or just another abandonment?

Regards,

Perhaps, the latest vehicle for going over the famous Niagara Falls? I couldn't help noticing ebonykawai's dateline: Niagara

Oh, I shouldn't put ideas in peoples' heads; I would not feel very good if someone actually did something so foolish. Plenty have; I believe there is a very stiff fine associated with making such an attempt (for those who survive), because the city and county of Niagara Falls has had enough of it. Do you think the District Attorney would go after their estate? I'll have to ask a lawyer, next time I see one. I don't know if the fine would be enough to buy a good piano, but it would certainly cover quite a few piano lessons and tech visits.

Think of the honeymoons that would be ruined, even if the Falls-runner played the Wedding March or Oh Promise Me on the way down.

The big problem has already been stated: the term "free" when applied to over-the-hill bad pianos means only that the "purchaser," if that is the term I want, has acquired the right to pay for the initial hauling to his or her residence, whatever they spend on tuners and techs, and at last, hiring someone to haul it to the dump. How can I be so sure? The operator of the storage facility would have sold it off if it had been worth anything--- anything at all.

Ebony-kawai's heart is too tender. It is a fault that it is hard to find fault with, but there are plenty of real waifs, plenty of real abandoned and mistreated animals, with not enough tender hearts to go around to help them all.

I have 3 rescue cats and one rescue dog, plus my Yoga business works with Little Free Pantries, helping to feed the needy in my community, so I'm happy enough doing the best I can. 😊 Sharing any knd of love, whether to sentient beings or abandoned pianos, doesn't mean there's less to go around, lol. It's not pie. 😂😂😂

A kind heart is indeed a true treasure
Though not everyone has it, at least to any measure
Doing good for others, both big and small
Helps to build our character, and make us tall
We have a part to play in our world each day
To make it a better place as we make our way
Through good times and bad, happy and sad
And one day we’ll look back at the life we had
For the world we make for ourselves and others
Should be a world where we are all like sisters and brothers
Yes, having a kind heart makes our world a better place
And is likely one of the greatest attributes of the human race smile
