I found this excellent page from KAWAII where they explain all their piano actions, from the most expensive to the cheapest ones:

https://kawaius.com/technology/wooden-key-actions/

I don´t want to learn how to play a music. I´m developing a way to play them all.

Thanks, Sleutelbos. I wasn´t even aware of GF 3. Who knows they now get rid of the "spongy" action ????

GFIII? Can't find anything about it online. Where did you get the image from? I'd be interested to see what the improvements are. I didn't notice anything better going from GF to GFII.

I think that action / keyboard cover is so ugly that it lifts up and you see the screws on the side holding the wood.... in the current CA series it slides right into the cabinet so you don't see it at all anymore, I actually much prefer that option :-O

When I first started looking for a digital piano in 2008 I was reading specs and looking at photos and all manner of other material ... only to discover much later that most of it offers nothing of value. Nothing.

The measure of a piano is taken by your fingers and your ears. Their judgement is more meaningful than anything written on the subject.

BTW, Kawai comes from Japan, not from Hawaii, therefore it is spelled with only one "I" at the end. wink

KawaiJames mentioned this:
Quote

- Revised hammer cushion structure
This is difficult to see in the reference image above, however the composition of the hammer cushion has been changed.
This results in a firmer key stop feeling, and also a slightly faster key return.

No, but you can read the rest of what he typed in the announcement post. Just quoting the relevant bit here. smile

Why Kawaii don't launch the new models on a grandpiano format instead of
Upright ?

Because the market for "digital grand pianos" is almost non-existent. People buying digital pianos are usually frugal on room space, noise and other factors.

May be, but upright pianos are very ugly.

Well, that would be rather subjective I'd think. Personally I dont like 'form over function' concepts. If a digital piano doesnt play or sound better when making it 3x larger I prefer if they keep em smaller.

These mini-grands look nice ... but do they sound better? Are they worth a $5000 premium?

I don't think so. I'm content with a console.

I agree that if the grandpiano sound is not nice, it doesn´t worth a pity, but if the sound is outstanding as the Yamaha CLP-695, it would worth every cent. This is subjective, some people don´t mind if they play on a chest. My purpose is to record videos with good lights and ambients, and on this area, beauty along with the sound quality is very important.
