My local Kawai shop carries the CA58/78/98. I can't see why he won't soon stock the CAx9 versions.

Biggest difference in the action appears to be some kind of clamped cap at the end of the key. No idea what it is for or what it results in. confused

That was also with the GF compact (albeit a translucent cap)

Looks like they moved the graded counterweight compared to the GFII as well, closer to where it is in the GFC.

Hmm, your picture is different from the one I'm seeing on the website:

In the below post from James Kawai you will find a good summary of GFIII vs GFII

Hi Sleutelbos, I will write in english for our fellow forum members, although dutch would be much easier for me, lol. I am also very interested in the new CA79. As my research is continuing I noticed the short review from Bonners About the Casio 510 / 310. In Holland the CA79 and the (Hybrid) Casio 510 Will cost about the same, around €3800 both in polished Ebony. I am really curious which one of these two is the better one. Since I am going to learn to play piano, I cant hardly wait to compare them in the shop side by side. Grtz!

The reason they cost about the same is, because they are about comparable in technology. Because the GP-510 is not a hybrid in the sense that is most commonly used for the term "hybrid" (a digital piano with a real acoustic action). Instead, its action is a digital action that is quite comparable to that of the CA79 (although the latter is newer, not many here on the forum have actually played it yet).
The word "hybrid" is not standardized, so every manufacturer can use it however they want. As said, the most common usage is for a digital piano with a real acoustic action. As this is (arguably) the most desirable type of hybrid, some manufacturers cleverly use the term hybrid in a way that may imply this meaning (DP with acoustic action) even when that isn't the case. The Casio definitely isn't one of those hybrids. The only hybrids (of that type) currently in the market are the Yamaha AvantGrand and Kawai Novus pianos.

About your question which one is better: No one can tell you, because that is subjective. One may favor the Kawai, someone else the Casio, and none of them would be wrong. Also no one here has played the CA79 yet.

Then the CA79 is 30% overpriced there, and the best option would be the GP-310.

My current stance on this is:

Hybrid digital pianos are digital pianos incorporating parts from acoustic pianos (like a soundboard and/or parts of the action).

Hybrid acoustic pianos are acoustic pianos incorporating parts from digital pianos (like key scanning and/or a digital tone generator).

Casio's offerings are neither.

While I have no experience with the Casio, that price seems off. I ordered the CA79 for €2800, and the default asking price in the Netherlands is about €3100. Your budget should get you a CA99 if you wanted.

You seem to have already good prices from Maene in Belgium. Best in Europe so far for the CA79.

I agree,
2800 Euros is a good price.

It's selling for 3129 Euros in Germany and in the U.S. well... prices are never displayed online, you gotta call or visit the dealer whenever they have it available. Then it will depend on your negotiation skills :P

@sleutelbos - congratulations on the CA79 and the amazing price. In Germany the lowest is currently a bit over € 3.100.

Another question to the more experienced: does anyone have advice on a piano bench? Several stores over bundles of piano, bench and headphones, but I assume the benches are among the cheapest they have... Good enough or should you buy something more decent?
