Hello,

Could anyone tell me what to choose between a used YAMAHA YU3 or a new PETROF P125 M1 (126 cm.)?

I am totally new for this but would like to get one for my kid to start learning.
confused confused
The YU3 (5.5 million series number) is now probably 8 years old (reconditioned by the dealer). PETROF is said to be made in Czechkoslovakia with some German parts inside.

PETROF's price is slightly higher than a used YU3 in my town.

Many thanks.

What a coincidence. I just happened to play a used U3 and a brand new P125 side by side yesterday. laugh

I would describe the U3 as being consistent, not too bright a tone as other smaller Yamaha uprights.

My preference is with the Petrof 125 - nice mellow and romantic-sounding tone. It's my favourite upright from the Petrof range.

Just my preference.

I was also very happy with my Petrof (116 not 125) versus the Yamaha U3 I considered.
