I got this voicemail over the weekend. They wanted 5 keys repaired and tuning in exchange for weed and beers.

I know I went to Woodstock, because I can't remember it.

I would not touch it. Asking for trouble. You will end up losing...as they are.

I'd much prefer to do it in exchange for money.

"We love you brother" - but not enough to pay you properly!

There is no way I would ever call this guy back.

My biggest annoyance is when somebody asks for a discount on the phone. I immediately tell just tell them I am sorry but this will not work and tell them to find somebody else. This usually makes them angry and often leads to them swearing at me, but I don’t care. Luckily I only get 1 every two months ask for a discount or some sort of trade. So it doesn’t hurt my business turning them down.

I find it very offensive when somebody asks for a discount. To me it’s an ultimate sign of disrespect. Even when they tell me they love me and call me their brother lol

Yes, words are cheap! Totally agree about the disrespect.

I have a semi-retired English teacher friend in the SF Bay Area, who does private tuition. She says that if price is the first thing a caller asks about, she tells them "If price is the first thing you want to ask about, I'm probably not the right person for you, sorry".

But price is the first question everybody asks, ok, maybe the second or third question but price will be brought up in the first phone call.
