During the 'holidays', I was asked to play some non-classical music that 'normal' people will recognize, but not Christmas music.

As I'm anything but normal (though I'm not abnormal), I had to fish around to find suitable stuff (other than Joplin rags) that I can easily sight-read.....and found (via a Paul Barton YT video) a site that has many decent arrangements by Mercuzio of movie themes etc, all free to download. The good thing is that they're all pianistic and sound good, not rubbishy straightforward RH melody and LH chords (for that, I'd far rather make up stuff myself from lead sheets), and the harmonies and rhythms are as in the originals, not turned into pseudo-jazz by replacing them with added-note chords (which I cannot abide).

I had a lot of fun playing through the themes from The Godfather (Nino Rota), Schindler's List, Moon River etc. Though most are of intermediate standard or higher, there are some easier ones which should be within the grasp of many people here:

If you can't access that link, try this, and click on 'library' on the left:

Thanks. There are so many bad arrangements of these songs - it’s always good to see better arrangements.

One has sought so long, and in vain, a good cocktail piano arrangement of “Das Lied von der Erde.”

Mercuzio is great! I downloaded the entire archive in the moment of greed last year wink

In spirit of sharing free resources, here are three links (first and last include arrangements as well):

https://michaelkravchuk.com/free-sheet-music/piano/

http://notes.tarakanov.net/ (All in Russian, but translate in Chrome works great on this site)

Here some arrangements are free, some are not, but some rare and interesting things can be found: https://russkayapianistka.wordpress.com/masha-sharova-noty/ (Russian, translates into English easily too) and French version of the same teacher's blog: https://pianocovery.wordpress.com/partitions/

Don't forget "Das Lied" exists in a version for voice(s) & piano by the composer, in case you fancy playing through the whole hour of it. Here's Cyprien Katsaris a.k.a. orchestra:

There's a decent cocktail bar piano arrangement of the Adagietto from Death in Venice wink , which is also good practice for playing 2:3 and voicing:

I've heard some overblown & fussy arrangements of this piece from a few concert pianists, which to my mind are too much of a good thing, but Mercuzio does it quite simply and nicely.
