Well, I almost made it through the first month. I couldn't seem to find any Round Tuits yesterday and practice didn't happen. Alas!

A lack of talent does not stop you from learning piano. It just takes longer and you have to work harder.

You are correct. You can't claim 2020 until the year is finished so no icon until then.

Over a month into this. Haven't missed a day yet! I'm thinking about joining the 40 piece/year club too.

I will be missing at least a couple of days either this month or next month, as I will go to meet my preemie niece.

I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.

Finfan- OK, you made me google "round tuits". to decide whether it was an excused absence or a back on the wagon. Since it means "getting around to it" back on the wagon you go!

Please put me in the excused list me for Feb 11-12. I had pain in my right hand, I don't if piano related or not. Treated with ice, rest and anti-inflammatory gel, it's almost fine now.

So, I am not sure how much of the excuse this is, but I missed playing piano on February 7.

I had an exam in grad school which totally knocked me off my feet, and I was collecting pieces of myself for the rest of the day.

Actually, I am still collecting myself till this day, but at least I am managing to play the piano as well.

torquenale - I hope your hand is better! I will add Feb 11-12 to your excused list.

Snejana - It is not in the rules as an excused absence, but I know what the aftermath of an bad exam can be! We will call it post exam distress illness, and I will add Feb 13 to your excused list.

SwissMS, good work here. Because of this I have an almost two month streak going. But I need a ruling on yesterday.

It was a particularly long day on Friday, so I didn't hit piano until sometime after midnight. Got in about twenty minutes of Gershwin and other things. What I am asking, is first playing after midnight considered missing the previous day? Is the day 12:00am to 11:59:59pm? Or is a day whatever you get done from when you wake up until when you turn in?

(For the record, I had a similar day on Thursday but I got myself started at 11:45. So fingers did touch keys after midnight and during the calendar day of Friday. But I was curious about the above question for future reference.)

I almost never miss a day, only when I travel and since I do not like long trips - I miss home, I miss my piano - that could make 5 to 10 days a year.
And that would take me to the excused list.

Having said that, I am worried because after three years playing non-stop I am afraid of changing the fate by using a public commitment. Bizarre as it may sound this is similar to joining a piano course that you don't follow after a few weeks, when you previously thought it would be the final and ultimate course.

Anyway, I'm in for 2020, add me to the late starter list, and this is my second commitment for the year - being the first and foremost the 40 pieces a year challenge with no pieces added to the list yet. frown

Josh1770 - As far as I am concerned, a day does not end until you go to bed. So practice after midnight is still on your active day. So, you're good. Your string of daily practice is unbroken.

Can you add me to the late starters list? I have been practicing every day so far this year and plan to continue.

About to go on a 11-day work trip to Brazil, but I'm not about to break my streak. Guess what I packed first into my suitcase? My Roland A-300PRO. Total length, including the protective foam ends: 26 and 3/8 inches. Now it's time to add the stuff of secondary importance: clothes smile

Main things are your keyboard and a pair of flip-flops.
Enjoy your trip and never break your streak laugh laugh
