In my usual weekly trawl through new albums I came across the above wonderful piece of piano music as the opening track to an album by Alessandro Simonetto.

The track is instantly a favourite of mine and I decided to do a bit of research in to it. I couldn't see that the piece has been discussed here on the forums before, but did find a fantastic blog post about the staged train crash about which the piece is a dedication:

The piece and the blog post are well worth your attention.

I included the piece in a recital once, because (besides that I think it's a neat piece anyway)....

The place happened to be right across from a railroad, and I was already playing this Scarlatti piece (at 43:45 on here) which I had long ago decided sounded like a train:

.......so I figured it would be fun to also play that piece that's really about a train.

I was so excited about it that when they had me on the radio before the concert to talk about it, I got so much into this train thing that the host had to ask me, are these two pieces the whole concert. ha
