Is it that time already? I just got the Summerkeys 2020 brochure in the mail. This will be my tenth summer - I'm really looking forward to it this year, since I will be done with school (one way or the other) and can have more freedom in what I play.

Summerkeys has been discussed here in the past - Here is a thread I did way back in 2011 about my experience.

There's a bunch of other piano camps for adults out there. Anybody else making plans?

Sam

I did one summer session at SummerKeys and found it a very worthwhile experience. I'm considering a summer camp. Estes Park has one. Has anyone done that one?

Approximately how much would you need to budget for tuition and lodging, to attend for two weeks?

If you go to Summer Keys website: Summer Keys

and follow the various links, you should get a pretty good idea of what fees, accommodation and other expenses you would incur.

Regards,

Hi BruceD, I did see $715 a week at Summer Keys website. But wondering about accomodation costs, which can possibly exceed tuition. Didn't want to go to individual hotel websites to do dummy bookings to find out costs. That's why I asked the OP for a quick number.

Well, I was interested enough to check airfare, rental car and accommodations and the verdict is...dang it’s out of the way and rather expensive from where I’m coming from, and distance-wise it’s not even that far! It all adds up. Maybe I need to save some money first! Very tempting though!

No public transportation in Lubec, but if you stay in town, you can walk where you need to go. There is a bus that runs from Bangor to a crossroads a few miles away, then you can arrange to get picked up. I’ve never done that, but I know people do it.

There are lots of B&Bs and a couple of Inns, and houses and rooms for rent. No chain hotels, no fast food, only one grocery store.

Lubec is remote, but that is part of the charm for me.

Thanks Sam. I like being able to walk to places. So excluding airfare (if I can use freq flyer miles), I probably need to set aside $3,000 to do two weeks, that sounds about right to you?

Sounds about right, but you can check some of the B&Bs, Cohills, and the Inn at the Wharf to see what they cost.

Yes, sent you a PM if anyone else is interested in Rocky Ridge, I will be glad to give you my opinion, as well

I have gone to Summerkeys for several years and absolutely love it. I am afraid I am going to have to skip this year since my daughter is getting married at Disney next October so I will have to save any extra money for that. I have found that it is cheaper to rent a house than stay at the B/B’s or the Inn and of course then You can cook some of your meals. The houses are sometimes cheaper during June .
