Do you give your piano teacher a gift at the holidays?

If so, suggestions?

Yes, I do. What I have done previously: assorted gourmet choc, unusual potted plant, poinsettia, Christmas ornament

No musical gifts as she has been teaching forever and I’m sure has received s million musical small things. ... and, she does not decorate in a musical theme.

Good point. I do like to give consumables such as most of us have too much stuff!

My teacher doesn't actually get a lot of gifts, and we did go musical. Got a notepad that said "Chopin Liszt", some keyboard themed pencils and a gift certificate for the local symphony hall. He loved them all smile

I bought her a seat cushion for her piano bench. I don't know if she'll use it but I will !

Those Everlasting Comfort ones are great seat cushions, aren't they?

I think I will go practical and get my teacher an Amazon or Sephora gift card.

I gave my teacher a set of small Zebra mechanical pencils last year at holiday time.

I give him random stuff periodically, but lately not so much because I'm pretty spent with work.

I like to bake... this year it's almond shortbread. I like to make my own cards too... I can't resist adding a bit of music notation craft paper somewhere in the design.... more subtle this year though 😁

I gave my teacher a cash card to the bath and body works store. She took photos of the stuff she got and texted to me so it was a winner.

Good thoughts and good thread. I think I'll try to do something nice. Maybe cook up a batch of Killer Shrimp. smile Just kidding. Not that. Something more normal. Maybe a Seasons 52 gift card or something.

Thanks for reminding me - last year I got her some nice chocolates from Hotel Chocolat (I am not sure this is a brand outside of the UK) - might do something similar this year.

Last year, Phantom of the Opera was in my city, and my teacher mentioned that she went and loved it. I made her little amigurumi Phantom and Christine ornaments for Christmas. I have a new teacher this year, and I don't think she's into musicals, but I may do something similar.

I love to knit so usually make her something. I have given her several pairs of socks, which she wears often, so hand knit socks again this year.

I used to get my teacher a bottle of whisky. I had one or two drunken lessons from him which went on twice as long as usual and were very productive. He used to grow voluble with hilarious anecdotes about his professional life and famous musicians he had known, concluding the lesson by telling me to bugger off. That was fifty years ago and I still miss him and the sound of his marvellous improvisation.
