The killing blow at 2:03 moved the Steinway, that had its wheels locked, by at least an inch. Never seen anything like that before.

Dang!

The glissando before that moved the piano as well!

I am not impressed by his attempt to win the speed/volume record.

He hit too many wrong notes in that attempt and I guess he got angry because of it.

I've seen that happen a number of years ago. The pianist was Yefim Bronfman (another bear of a man) and he was performing a concerto (I don't recall which one) with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Mann Music Center.

I believe the original Russian bear was Lazar Be(a)rman:

From that video it seems he would be better suited to applying his physique to playing football or professional boxing . I’m not impressed by somebody who by brute force crashes his hands into a piano keyboard . Lazar Berman had much better taste and refinement in his music making .

Perhaps - but it explains why they have to "retire" those large concert grands after 4 or 5 years of "service."

The guy needs to take it down a notch. smirk

I guess the people in the last row heard him!

I saw the Labèque sisters premiere a concerto for two pianos and orchestra by Philip Glass. I decided to go to the concert at the last minute and the only ticket I could get was in the center, about five rows from the front. When I got to the hall, I ran into two friends who were there for the concert. They were seated in the upper reaches of the hall.

Well, when I took my seat, it felt like I was under two nine foot Steinways because they had extended the front of the stage to accommodate the two pianos.

When I met my friends at intermission, they told me that they had trouble hearing the pianos in certain sections of the piece. I told them that I had had no trouble hearing every note!
