I have a Kawai ES-110 and when I run the piano through the Electro-Voice ZX-A1 power speaker I hear a kind of low pitch whooshing sound every time I press the pedal. I also ran it through a small amp and also got that sound. The pedal is the original one from the piano, and I do not experience this if I am just playing through the speakers in the piano.
Any suggestions on how to eliminate this sound?

It's part of playing an acoustic. The piano's speakers may be a tad insensitive to the frequencies involved. You may be able to reduce the volume, or increase it as you wish. There may be some hammer fallback noise, or key noise designated similarly, but I'd think probably not for that model.
Just enjoy the sound . . .

Any suggestions on how to eliminate this sound? It's the Damper Noise effect. You can disable it, check the manual (page 31).

I turn the pedal noise off (or way down), since I don't hear it on any of the acoustics I play. I do hear it on new pianos in the showroom, so I'm guessing it's more of a new-piano kind of thing as the damper felts haven't hardened/compacted yet.

Thanks for info. This is not an acoustic piano, it is a digital piano. I will have time this weekend to explore this further, especially check out pg 31 of the manual. If there is no noise from the pedal through the built-in speakers, why should there be any noise from an external speaker?

That's a fairly divisive issue here. One camp prefers digital pianos to fully replicate the experience and sounds of a real piano including pedal noise, damper noise, action noise, etc. Another pefers that digitals leverage their strengths and eliminate what are perceived as limitations in an acoustic piano (extra non-string noises, extraneous resonances, simulations of letoff, weighting and grading in the keys).
DPs can satisfy both parties some of the time with settings, others require fundamental hardware choices be made during design.

If there is no noise from the pedal through the built-in speakers [...] There is. You just don't notice it. But it's more audible via the Electro-Voice. ...I suppose.

This is not an acoustic piano, it is a digital piano. Thank you! This has been a pet peeve of mine for awhile!

It's like the lens flare debate "hey we can render perfect scenes, but lets add in lens imperfections so it looks like a photo."

It's like the lens flare debate "hey we can render perfect scenes, but lets add in lens imperfections so it looks like a photo." A minor adjustment to the above: to me, it's more like a system intended to perfectly render a Hassleblad medium format setup, including lens characteristics, spherical and chromatic abberations, film color, grain, etc. Some people want that level of versimiltude, others can want more of a platonic ideal. It's a matter of preference and ultimate intent, not just "throw a lens flare in."

The ZX-A1 has quite good low-frequency response. Apparently, the KC-110 speakers do not.
Try it with a good set of headphones; the sound will probably more-or-less match the ZX A1.
