Trying to organize my youtube channel and put all my piano compositions there...but I'm stuck on making a decision on whether or not to use artwork as the video..or have my live piano playing as the video. I always record my works live with the video of my playing and share those on FB. But with just the artwork it seems so different. Not as 'distracting.' but I love the live performances. What do you guys think? I could upload both..but it would be just a mess. would rather have 1 raw version of every piece. I could also upload the painting I used for my pieces as the thumbnail and have my live playing as the video. Then have 2 different versions of the final entire project, 1 with live video and other just audio and artwork. What do you guys think?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjfOe7m8C9s here is one of my pieces with just audio.

you could also put the scores of your pieces in the videos (aka scrolling score)

I would love to do that. but I don't read or write music. So I never made a score for any of my works frown

Who is your audience? For musicians, I would suggest hands. For non-musicisns, artwork
But to confirm this, I would suggest asking a few non musicians

"Music, rich, full of feeling, not soulless, is like a crystal on which the sun falls and brings forth from it a whole rainbow" - F. Chopin
"I never dreamt with my own two hands I could touch the sky" - Sappho

It's ok to be a Work In Progress

I voted on your other post, but it was for YOUR playing.

Thank you OscoBosco. I might. smile Still thinking. Just wouldn't want my channel to be a mess with too many videos, rather just have 1 version of each piece. But I don't know.

That's a good point @dogperson. I guess my audience would be pretty even split between musicians and non-musicians.

Thank you @noblehouse. I think that's the route I will go with. Because if someone doesn't like the live video they can just minimize the tab and listen to the music..but if I upload just the artwork as the video, and they want to see a live video, they can't. decisions decisions decisions...

I greatly prefer the video in which you play the piano, because the artwork video is just the same picture for minutes. It doesn't add anything. If I only want to listen without seeing you play, I can just close my eyes, or surf to other internet pages. But if I do want to pay full attention to your music, it helps to see you play.

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.

Exactly. Thank you very much @Animisha. smile It's good to have both options. I think I will post the videos. The artwork will still be the thumbnail of the videos anyway. Thank you for sharing your opinion.
