I've done a cursory search within this forum, but what I've located is dated.....and I don't know if what I'm looking for exists

I'm looking for some kind of fun, educational, engaging "workshop" (maximum a week long) where I can enhance and develop my nascent jazz skills. I always took classical lessons, but lacked theory because of my stop-and-start pattern of lessons as a young adult. In the past year, I've started taking lessons (from 2 teachers, 2 times/week!) to try to learn and understand jazz/contemporary music. I love the idea of a week-long immersion experience.

Where is flexible; when, though, is less so. I'm hoping for something around April. Most importantly, though: what kinds of things exist?

(For a quick demographic snapshot, I live in Canada, and I'm a 53-year old married female....If Pianodatingmatch.com is a thing-- and what a great idea!-- that's not what I'm looking for....!)_

Sounds like you are looking for an adult piano summer camp. There is generally a thread every year on ABF about summer camp. This over here, is the 2019 thread.

I don’t see any of the piano camp attendees mention whether there is jazz piano instruction. Hopefully, they will reply here.

Rami’s Piano camp: classical but Rami has composed and played jazz. You can drop him an email through his website
http://ramisrhapsody.tripod.com/

Or directly through his email rami_barniv@yahoo.com

Annually, there are two camps in upstate NY and one in San Francisco

Thank you both. The problem is I don’t want summer but spring. As I said, preferably April.
I wondered if maybe there was a smaller workshop that perhaps only offered it to a handful of people, and was perhaps more customizable. ( something I’ve discovered over the years is that if I’ve thought of something, it probably exists!)

But beggars can’t be choosers, and I I’ll check them both out.

Hi Dog
The Rami camps are in March, June and October, maximum of 8 participants as there is a one hour private lesson everyday I wouldn’t assume that everything else is in the summer, either 😊

You also might want to contact Dave Frank, jazz pianist, composer and teacher in NYC. He posts on the non-classical forum as DFrankJazz

Summerkeys has jazz (a teacher who specializes in jazz), but it doesn't start until late June/early July. That counts for Spring in Maine - being from Canada, you probably know what I'm talking about.

I'm probably going back this summer - my 10th year: summerkeys.com

Total jazz immersion, all levels, age 21+. Locations in Wisconsin and New York - perhaps not so far from Windsor? I have friends who have gone here and enjoyed it. But: it's in the summer, not April.

Bluegrass, just a suggestion but why not create your own immersion course?

For example, find a jazz pianist/teacher and see if that person is willing to give you lessons for a couple of hours a day for a week or six days.

You can then couple it with accommodation and a piano ...

Some organisation required but it could provide the flexibility you need.
