Hello dtrvno,

The Bluetooth Audio function built-in to some Kawai DPs is intended for playing audio from a device (phone, tablet, laptop etc.) through the piano's speaker system.

This function does not support transmitting the piano's sound to external speakers.

However, I expect such functionality could be achieved by using a small Bluetooth transmitter plugged into the headphone/line out connector, although latency (the time for a key press to result in a sound being produced/heard) would likely be a factor.

Kind regards,
James

Please don't count on using BT audio for piano playback. BT has a quite limited bandwidth (the amount of data transfered per second, max 1.5 Mbps but may be much lower in practice on the congested 2.4 MHz band). These days it may transmit audio with relatively good quality thanks to efficient codecs that compress the audio stream so that the bandwidth is acceptable, but the laatency (audio delay) is 120 to 250ms, unacceptable for real-time activities such as playing piano. Low-latency BT audio codecs do exist (aptX-LL) and are intended for phonecalls over wireless headsets and such; the latency is down to 40 ms.The recommended latency values for good audio are quite subjective but mostly quoted below 10 ms.

Audio over wifi (WiSA) should allow much lower latencies, such as 2.6 or 5.1 ms in the 5 GHz band, but for now the choice seems pretty limited and pricey.

Bluetooth is for portability.

The piano weighs 200 pounds. It's not going anywhere. So just run a wire to the speakers.

Agreed. There's no real reason to use bluetooth speakers for something that is most likely going to be stationary. I'd just get some speaker wire and hardwire in your speakers. Plus, I'm not a fan of bluetooth for playback. The fidelity just isn't there. There's too much interference and latency.
