I want to replace the key tops of my piano and I’ve seen many videos with PVC-E glue mentioned but I can’t find anything like that in Europe. Does anyone know what similar glue I can use and where I can order it from?

I use neoprene contact cement for acrylic keytops.
I also found mentions of some PVC-E glues in Piano Inside Out that I'd like to give a shot sometime. In France, I could buy the Aleene’s Tacky Glue original formula, Quick dry and Fast grab in some domestic art shops. On Amazon, we can import it from UK, so far I know.

You could also try Evacon-R adhesive.

Thanks for all the answers! I see that the Pattex brand is widespread (called Moment in Bulgaria and can be purchased everywhere) and the glue is actually a neoprene contact glue (polychloropren).

My preferred adhesive is Roo Glue manufactured in Australia. It's better than PVC-E. Contact cement lasts about 15 to 20 years and then starts to fail. It also discolors considerably.

PVC-E is not contact cement.

Sorry, I was not very clear with my response. I was commenting on the two different adhesives being discussed.

I've used PVC-E for decades and it works quite well for plastic key tops. When Pianotek switched to Roo Glue, I bought some and tested it against PVC-E and found it had a stronger bond. I also found the gel consistency of Roo Glue to be easer to work with. It is now my adhesive of choice.

Which particular Roo Glue? I looked on their website, and they make quite a lot of adhesives...! smile

I guess it is perfect if the peeled keyboard is dissolved in acetone to make an adhesive.

Acetone will dissolve new keytops, so any smear will mar them. PVC-E is better. It just washes off before it sets, and peels off afterwards,

The Roo Glue is labeled Roo Clear, Melamine and vinyl adhesive.

I asked a local Bulgarian technician and he told me he uses PVA glue for glueing key tops. What do you think about that?
