MP7SE Additional sounds question #2902396

Hi, I'm the happy owner of a MP7SE, which I've had for about a year.

I successfully setup the midi connection as per Pianomanchuck's video in order to enable the additional hidden GM banks sounds link.
As you might know this relies on midi.

Having a second keyboard (Nord Lead A1), is there the possibility of using this second keyboard to play the additional MP7SE sounds, rather than using the MP7SE's own keybed?

Can you kindly help me setting up the midi connection for it?

Thanks
V

Hello varignet,

If the Nord Lead A1 is able to transmit MIDI program change commands, this should be possible.

If not, I guess it might be possible to transmit the program change command on the MP7SE itself (using the loopback cable), store this setting to a SETUP memory, then connect the Nord to the MP7SE to control the sound. Each time you wish to access that sound, you could recall the SETUP that you created.

I have never tried this myself, but it might work.

Cheers,
James

Thanks James,

I hadn't even considered midi program changes. All I was thinking is having something similar to Pianomanchuck's wiring, with the ability of playing the given and pre-selected GM sound using the external keyboard rather than internal one. I would then save a handful of useful sounds as a setup, for instance timpani is a nice one
.
By the way page 156 of the manual lists all of the midi sounds not available from the interface and they're actually more than what Pianomanchuck thoughts initially. Pretty cool.
