Does anyone know how to set the "key off simulator" on a Casio AP-650.

The last lines on page E-10 of the user manual say:



That's the only mention of "key off simulator" in the manual other than a note at the back saying that "key off simulator" is one of the available features. (I did a word search on it to verify that there is no other use of those words in the manual at all.)

I scrolled through most of the settings on the actual piano and there's just nothing at all about that in any of the parameters there, either.

So, is it possible to set or change the key off simulator in any way? Or is it something that's permanently enabled and can't be changed?

Yes as far as I'm aware it's a feature that cant be adjusted. You should note this isn't the mechanical noise of the key itself. This feature means you get longer or shorter decay on the note depending on how quickly you release the key. So for example the actual sound produced for staccato notes is different from legato ones.

Lately I've been experimenting with a sort of smooth cocktail style of music and I was thinking that increasing this might make the notes blend together more easily. But I guess that what I've got what I've got.

If you want to increase the decay on all keys, you may be able to set the sustain function to the pitch bend wheel (or expression pedal) and leave it on a half-pedaled value?

Or get a better piano. Or get virtual instrument software. The latter is a very cost-effective improvement.
