grin ha

Too bad it requires full concert length! And a Steinway no less. That's an expensive way to play ping pong. thumb

What is there not to love. Table tennis and piano - two favorites and perfect for China! thumb

The stars of the show are the ping pong players who never miss. Boesendorfer or Fazioli should make a new art case model with the ping pong net as part of the case and some ping pong balls attached to parts of the piano,

This thread reminds me of something someone said to me once at an estate auction where land and property was being auctioned off... I was there to bid on/buy some property adjacent to my current property.

The auction company had a big tent set up, with a large PA system and a guy there playing tunes on a digital stage piano. I asked one of the agents of the auction company why they had the guy there playing the digital piano. He told me that you always need an organ grinder to get the crowd excited.

So, I guess if the pianist wasn't enough to get the crowd excited on their own, the ping-pong players were... I just wonder who the organ grinder was, the pianist or the ping-pong players? smile

Joja Wendt is a well known Hamburg based pianist famous for playing highly entertaining pieces of music often with curious stage antics. Like Horowitz he commonly travels with his own Hamburg Steinway D model. For the show in China he needed to invent something that relates to Chinese people on non-verbal basis. Of course this was only part of the show. He's become extremely popular in the country that usually identifies music with something rather serious. Attached "Bumble Bee Boogie" played with famous Andre Rieu orchestra. If you do search, he also plays some of the most difficult other musical pieces. Certainly fun to watch... wink

Ha ha.. that sounds fun!!!

Did Steinway complain that the official Steinway tennis table net, racquets and balls were not being used? I am sure they will release a memo to remind everyone to do that!
