Hello!

I'm new to this forum - but I have a question.
At a local music store I encountered a brand-new upright with the name "H. Kreisler" on the front; this seems to be a stencil piano, given that I can find no evidence of it in any books, or online. The fact that it seems to be a stencil piano is particularly surprising; it is an EXCELLENT piano - it is one of the larger modern uprights I've seen, has a wonderful clear, even tone, and exceptional touch.

Has anybody in this forum encountered one of these pianos? On the back of the piano is stamped, "Made in China", so that's a start. Does anybody know what the actual make is? (I have searched all the usual internal locations for any further info, but have found none.) Have you had good/bad experiences with pianos of this make?

Thanks very much for any help.

What's the name of the local dealer that sells these pianos?
Won't the dealer tell you who the Chinese manufacturer is?

The local dealer is one of the Long & McQuade chain - a quick search shows no sign of the piano on their site, not even under the "Pianos" section.

When I was first checking the piano out, the dealer said that he didn't know off-hand who the actual maker was. I'll be heading back to the dealer today or tomorrow, and I'll be determined to find out the actual manufacturer. Perhaps I'll bring along my Zoom H4 and record a few samples of it.

I'm still surprised at its obscurity; the piano really is quite superb!

I just tuned and did slight maintenance on this brand of piano today and I would agree with you that it is of very good quality for an apartment vertical piano.

I googled and someone at this link said it is made by Mason & Risch, Canada.
