Hi All,
The pianos are all being moved in and set up at NAMM - all 34 Kawai pianos are in place, at least. I took a quick peek at the main piano room today, and many of the instruments are in the room.
Now the tuning begins - better remember to bring my ear plugs tomorrow!

I'll pass on your greeting to himn in the morning. Otherwise, lots more pianos have been moved in, and the concert of piano tuners is beginning to get going - ding, ding, ding!

What's it like to have a multitude of tuners tuning their brand of pianos, simultaneously?

I think M.A. really meant "multitude of tenatious tuners tuning their type of temperaments, together.
Anyway, it's a royal mess, very difficult for the tuners. One must tune more slowly than usual, concentrate on your note and try to block out what the other people are doing. Then someone with a digital piano or organ launches into a big loud wash of sound, and the tuners all sigh, then work to regain their concentration.
Electronic tuning aids are a big help. The tuners try to cooperate also, and if they get synced up on nearby pitches with another tuner, they move to a different range if possible. Sometimes interesting musical patterns and rhythms develop when 3 or more are working at once.
It's an experience.

Pianocat said Hello today - I offered to let her log on to PianoWorld here at the Kawai booth, but she declined the offer and moved on to tune some more pianos.
Looks like the pianos are mostly set up now (6:00 pm Wednesday). Still plenty of tuners hard at work.

It's an experience. With all due respect, this sounds hilarious to me, albeit, it must be frustrating for you guys.

PianoCat is Lisa Weller, who used to frequent this forum but then got fed up.
NAMM is winding down. It has been exceptionally busy, and I have been mainly tied up in the Kawai room talking to people, as I should be. I did get a chance to play a few other pianos today, so I can make a few comments - with the understanding that I will always prefer the Kawai pianos, of course.
The Charles Walter 178 is a very nice piano with excellent sustain and a very even toned scale. It suffers from hammers that need voicing, and I told Charles Walter that I would love to spend a day working on the tone - but of course, my employers would not appreciate that! Kudos, though, to Del F. and the Walter clan.
I played the Fazioli concert grand and enjoyed it as usual. Very finely made piano, very fine tone, somewhat too bright and agressive toned in the mid- and high-treble to my taste.
I briefly tried the Estonia concert grand, but was unable to really play much as it would have been impolite to the people standing just in front of it. It seemed clear and bright toned.
The number of Chinese brands and sub-brands is mind boggling. It will be interesting to see what becomes of them all.
The new Petrof 7 footer, from what I could tell, is a decent piano, but the room was too horribly noisy to judge it. My efforts to play the piano were also somewhat discouraged by people nearby. I can't understand why they always have the exhibit on the main NAMM show floor with all that noise.
Likewise with Yamaha, the room was rather noisy. There was a nice C-3 in there which had very nice voicing to my ear. Almost as nice as a Kawai RX-3, maybe. ;-)
Sunday is usually a better day for we exhibitors to explore the show, so I may try to post more tomorrow, if any of you are interested.
