My 12 year old son is looking for a nice intermediate level arrangement to play for Christmas possibly Silent Night or Carol of the Bells. FWIW- for an idea of level last year he earned superior plus at the intermediate B level in Guild. Would love to listen to the version if possible before buying. Anyone know offhand of a good version of either. Thanks!

Not a teacher, but I like Christine Brown’s arrangement of silent night. You can hear the music underneath the download button

Michele McLaughlin's Carol of the Bells for solo piano is lovely if he enjoys this kind of style:

Track to listen to:

Sheet music to purchase:

It's $3.75 for just this piece, or you can buy the full digital book for $20. I bought the collection a few years back. Carol of the Bells is the only one I learned properly as I don't bring out the Christmas music until very close to the time, but I enjoy playing around with other pieces. I've bought a few other Christmas collections over the years, and this is the one I like the best

I'm not a teacher. My sister had me buy this version for a family recital last year. It's a late intermediate arrangement. It's nice but was too difficult for me last winter, but it might work for your son. I think it's $3.99 USD.

Tyrone- I really like the arrangement that you posted. I'll definitely suggest this one to my son and if he likes it we can ask the piano teacher whether it would be doable at his level. Thank you!

Thank you. This is also another beautiful arrangement. I'll ask him about this one too.

Thank you for this suggestion too. I'll have him listen to this one too. I'll let everyone know if he chooses one of these. Thanks!

Good bass at the intro-
great fun esp. for boy students who might think high and light is for girls!

Thanks all. My son ended up being chosen for a 3 day school related trip in Dec. Also his teacher thinks that he will really struggle with Guild this year so she wants him to get started on that right away. So I’m sure she’ll want him to do a very easy piece for Christmas that she’ll choose with him. Thank you for the suggestions though. Another year...
