Hi,

Will make a new post to share my thoughts on my new setup, I am just wondering should a brand new Kawai VPC1 come without the RM3 gold sticker on the last key?

And the plastic cover of the pedal, was loose in its box.

Is this normal or did I pay full price for a previously opened/used unit?

Best,

Xhivo

I believe James has previously stated that Kawai has stopped putting those stickers on. Same applies for CA98, etc.

Oh, shoot... Should have known this was already discussed.

But I just want to say this, the VPC1 is stunning! I love the looks and feel of it.

I need to sleep it's late here, but I will test it more tomorrow and hopefully post about my setup in the forum.

And just out of curiosity, where you guys live, is it the norm to pay full price for a unit that was opened then resealed ? Or do you pay a little less? Here, I guess they would not disclose if it was resealed but I may be wrong about it.

Yes, that's correct - Kawai no longer attaches keyboard action branding stickers to the topmost key of the instrument.

As for the pedal cover (covers?) coming loose in the F-30 pedal unit box, that's unfortunate, but should not cause any problems.

If you purchased a brand new VPC1 from a reputable store, I'm pretty sure this is what you will have received.

Kind regards,
James

I'm with James.

In the US, such items would be sold as "Open Box" and discounted appropriately. There are some reports that Guitar Center may reseal and resell, however that hasn't ever been my experience and most resellers will generally exchange an item if you have a valid issue.

That being said, it sounds like your VPC1 is perfect -- congrats!

If anyone really wishes to print their own Kawai keyboard action stick, feel free to send me a PM and I'll supply the artwork. wink

Was that to cover his varicose veins?

Why would someone keep that promotional sticker on the last key? It's something you expect to see in a shop to promote a feature, not at your home... But I guess... To each his own! smile

I always keep that sticker in place. It helps with reselling.

Me too.

I sold three Kawai digitals; ES100, ES8, and MP11SE. I kept the sticker on all of them and people seemed to appreciate it.

For that you could just attach a brand new sticker when you have to resell it, so you can fake an even better condition! laugh

Isn't that what Steinway rebuilders do when they rebuild an old Steinway and stick a brand new decal on it?

I didn't know that. Attaching a sticker on a Steinway piano is just like an heresy to me... laugh

Yes, that is another good reason to remove those stickers as soon as possible when you buy something... After many years you would have much trouble to get them off (and there would always remain some stuff underneath, difficult to remove).
