Does anyone else own and play what is now the rare Sega Toys Grand Pianist?

Here is mine and note the two (2) additional speakers added next to the piano:

They are mostly available only on eBay from Japanese sellers:

Sega Toys Grand Pianist

Was also able to obtain those two separate speakers for the Grand Pianist as the smaller black one (Yamaha NX-A01) is harder to find now and the taller white one (Yamaha NX-B02) is available only with a few sellers. They add a better realism to the piano sound and boost the overall volume nicely -- the black one has 8 watts total (4 watts per side / 2 speakers) and the white one has 20 watts total (10 watts per side / 2 speakers).

I've never seen these, how does this work? Does it play music, is it a game?

I have never heard of this, but I found this video. It is a cool little novelty:

I love the red felt keyboard cover!!! But the action is a little noisy and it looks like it probably needs to be regulated... whome

I own one. It's a bit noisy when playing. But I found it very nice as piano miniature (the best of the market today).

thumb +1
It is somewhat noisy but adorable. That would make a great hint gift that’s someone’s getting a piano for Christmas. Even if I wasn’t getting a new piano I’d love that under my Christmas tree.

But...if you resell it, does the license to use the built-in tunes get transferred to the new owner? laugh

That’s way above my wheel house, so to speak. I’m in a small rowboat praying it doesn’t leak. 😄
Maybe the $130 I could swing as a hint gift. But I’m the only one that plays so I don’t need a hint if I’m getting a new piano. It’s just in the faded dream part of the Christmas pony. And I’m still digging if you remember the old joke.

In the US, the used ones on eBay start from $277, and the new one is sold for $589 (all shipped from Japan). Amazon sells them for $717+tax which means almost $800 for me.

Nice summary of the features in action from a collector of electronic gizmos. It will play midi files and you could pipe the music to a big audio system via the line out.

Better yet, find a way to stream MIDI simultaneously to both the Sega toy piano & the VSL CFX / monster speaker system.
