Does anyone have recommendation for a piano cover? The shops sell them a few hundred dollars with 2 layers (black and red) but am not sure if its necessary to have the inner layer-waterproof? Can you get a decent one from ebay or somewhere too? Im however worried they look cheap and nasty. Or do I just go to a fabric shop get some velvet? I would hate dusts to get into the piano. Do you normally get the full/half cover?

another Question I have, not related to the piano cover. Is it normal when the piano movers tilts the piano on one end of the cart to allow the piano to land on one side onto the floor, then roll the cart away from the body, to allow the other end of piano to land on the floor finally? I always thought the movers will keep the piano straight when they move it?

I heard something quite noisy when they tilted the piano on 1 side, like some loose parts fell off but when I played if sounds okay. Just hope that's okay?? Am a bit annoyed and worried, that's all. :-(

Thank you.

I got a vinyl cover with a flannel-like inner covering that fit my Baldwin M perfectly. I think it was American Piano Covers. Opted for the split cover that allows the cover to be half unfolded. Works great. They have pre-fit covers for 85 common piano models.

Hey Letsplayit,

I'm weird about trying to support local business, so I hunted around for awhile. I just got a premium cover handmade here in the United States by a locally owned female business, Instrument Piano Covers by Guye Francine Janssens. Not only will you get a great price but you'll help support local business. She will even design custom piano covers for your specific needs and decorating tastes, but that might get more expensive.

Here's a link:

I had just posted on my personal fb page and got her to commit to offering discounts if you mention the "facebook" post.

Hope that helps...

It’s normal for them to tilt an upright piano to get them on and off a dolly, and a bit of noise is normal too, as long as they didn’t drop the piano. Did you get a tuner to come in after delivery?

It is normal to tilt the piano. There is probably some junk in the bottom or under the keys that made the noise.
