Your thoughts:
MP11 with stand: $1000
MP11SE (retail): $2700
Seems like a no brainer, but are the new samples worth it? Ugh.
Thanks, Marcus

If it's in good condition, yes I'd say an MP11 is a no-brainer. The Concert EX is already a fine piano, and if you want, you can always use a VST for even more options than you'd get with an SE.
At that price, I'd consider buying the MP11 just to flip, honestly....

Personally I think that the SK-EX ConcertGrand sound is such a big improvement over the EX that I would not consider to buy some Kawai DP that doesn't have that sound, unless I would use it just as a MIDI keyboard controller for a good VST. The EX sound is more like a POP-piano sound, very strong and good to play in a mix, but not too much for solo performances. The SK-EX has a much more warm and lyrical sound, very very good for classic music, and to me it sounds much more like a nice acoustic grand.

I'd get the MP11 for that price.
My sound preferences change, I like the SK, and I use it... but not more than I use the rest... if the MP11 is in good condition - that's a steal.

I could not agree more, I own a MP11 and use is as MIDI controller for Pianoteq, most people here believes that VSTs are superior to internal digital piano sounds. If the MP11 is in a good condition, for the difference you can buy a VST, good laptop, and a pair of monitor speakers! But I'd wonder why this digital is so cheap

There seems to be a real bargain every now and then: When I looked for a stage piano I struck a deal for a MP11 (3year reamaining guarantee) plus 2 loudspeakers plus highpriced K&M stand for less than 1300€. Now a german dealer near the danish border offers a Yamaha cvp 709B demo with guarantee for 3990€. But coming back to the differences between MP11 and MP11SE there is a yt video by pianoman chuck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaFbm5oswEEBut a question to all of you who owned tie MP11 and upgraded to SE version: Comparing ONLY the ex grands - are those delivered with the SE any different , better , noticebly better? Thanks

The SK Concert Grand sound on the MP11SE is just so superior to the EX Concert Grand on the MP11, I would only consider the MP11 if I was planning to use it as a VPC. I think that is a perfectly good use case. This image via Kawai James shows that the MP11SE is really only a minor update, but the SK Concert Grand really is good. I love the key action on my MP11SE, and that is unchanged from the MP11. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/5vksLjg/Kawai-MP11-vs-MP11-SE.png)
