Stop being so hard on yourself, it really has nothing to do with anything other than being exposed to a lot of classical music. For instance, I was a ballet dancer, so I knew all the ballet music, and have season tickets to my local symphony, plus literally all I listen to is classical music. I'm positive you'd beat the pants off me on a ton of other stupid quizes, LOL!! 😊

Tyrone, go ahead and be HARD on yourself grin

Lisa, You mean so well. Thanks so much.... but now I feel even more blush because I've listened to classical and opera all my life! But the issue is I just don't audiate the music at all. I look at the notes in those first measures of the scores and they just don't speak to me at all - silence cry

Everybody is different in the way they process things! It's just a stupid quiz! You're awesome and smart and a wonderful player, who cares about a dumb internet quiz? ❤️❤️❤️

Obviously my brain ran out of neurons & synapses for any audiation capability. The consequences of my memory are coming home to roost!

Most of my whole life I heard music in my head without ever learning names or knowing names of anything: not composers, not composition names, not genre. The very first one, I recognized instantly. But I have no name attached to it. I didn't go on, because it would be the same. I audiate so I "heard" what was on the page - but names are not there. It's a big hole that I've tried to start to fill in.

Nine, although it could easily have been far fewer.

Two I would have bet my life on, two I figured out (audiated?), the others I just fluked =)

Got eight. Three, I knew by sight. Could audiate another one correctly. Rest all were attempts at educated guessing. Most of which turned out to be wrong. So, mostly uneducated guesses, I guess.

If they really wanted to test your recognition of classical pieces, they wouldn't have gone the multiple choice route. I got the Mahler one correct only because a poster ahead of me said he missed the Mahler, and "Mahler" only showed up once on the quiz.

I would have done perhaps 1/14 if I hadn't had the multiple choices there in front of me. blush

I think I did ok, 10/14, with no lucky guesses.

6/14 here. What surprised me the most was I could look at the music and without thinking very hard the sound came into my head. I know a decade or so ago, before I took up the piano again I couldn't do that. I hardly ever listen to music (I always have talk radio on when I am in the car - Radio 4 in the UK). So my score is low because I didn't know how most of the answers sounded. If I did know I could match it up with the score easily.

11 - it kind of got easier when I thought to look at the multiple choices underneath before reading the score crazy(at Beethoven's 9th Symphony which I wouldn't have got without the hint!), but there were some I didn't know at all anyway. Pity it doesn't give 'I'm totally stumped option,' but as my guesses were all wrong.......

regards
Pete
