Hello all. I’m new to this forum and hope my interests keep me here a while. I’m 60 years old and have played the guitar for years, although I’m far from what I’d call a good guitar player. I basically depend on tablature and can’t read standard notation. I love the sound of the nylon string guitar.

Anyway, I decided I’d like to give the piano a try. I’m thinking of purchasing a digital piano (casio px870)and I’d like to find a local instructor and get started. Looking in the YP phone book for my area there’s only one listing in Lapeer. I’d imagine there are more private instructors in my area, but not listed in the nearly obsolete yellow pages.

So, can somebody please recommend a source, or ideally an instructor, for piano lessons in my area.

Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck, welcome to PW. As a beginner, you might want to post in the Adult Beginners Forum here.

Consider contacting the Michigan Music Teachers Association for teacher referrals.

Mtna.org has a teacher search engine. You can search by your zip code and instrument and find possible teachers with complete contact info. There are two members in your zip code.

There will be excellent teachers that are not members, but you might start here.
