I have one small complaint about my Casio PX-870, that is the height of the music stand, which is 6 1/2"

This means that when I put a music book on there, the top third starts bending.

OK it's not hard to put a piece of cardboard or something similar behind it, but I shouldn't really need to.

I've never used a stand before, but I seem to remember when I had my Kawai MP10, the stand didn't seem to be much taller if any (judging by the box size, never unwrapped it).

I think the designers are more interested in a size that complements the look of the DP than with its functionality. A taller music stand would begin to dominate the look of the instrument. Keep using the cardboard and begin cultivating an appreciation for the graceful lines of that music desk!

I had the same issue with the music desk on my Casio AP-650. I put a piece of cardboard there to solve the problem and then my wife asked me why I have this nice looking piano with a scrappy piece of cardboard on it.

So I went to the glass shop and had them cut me a piece of plexiglass slightly wider than the music desk and 12 inches tall and put that there instead. Problem solved and it looked pretty good (aside from the messy stack of paper, of course).

A year or so back I got a tablet for all of my music (Samsung Galaxy Tab S2) and since I don't use paper any more I took the plexiglass away.
