How do I close my membership here and delete my profile from the database? This is such a hostile negative environment that I don’t want to be part of it.

I don't know if you can actually delete the username record, but if you click on your username at the top right corner of the screen and select Edit Profile you can delete all of the fields and save the resulting record. Then if you never log in again anything you have posted will eventually get pushed further and further back in the queue as new topics and discussions are posted by others.

This website also saves a number of cookies in your web browser which do things like allow you to not have to log in again every time you visit the forum. They are saved on your local computer so you could delete those cookies. Exactly how you do that depends on what web browser you're using, but if you run "delete cookies" and the name of your web browser through google you should find everything that you need to accomplish that.

I do not know technical details how to do this, but...

In my experience, PW is a very amiable, intelligent and responsible community, which provides constructive discussions about almost any piano and piano market related issues. Here I received many knowledgeable advises about DP and VSTi purchasing, configuration and tuning. Maybe you seek here something else, or the English of some members of this forum is not as good as that of great English writers?

I know why Tenor1 feels that way and I can understand him. I have myself participated in his threads and have certainly contributed to the atmosphere not being the brightest one. I'm sure though there's nothing personal and if you felt that way you can report the thread, posts or posters to the admins. I have myself reported people a few times on the forum. If you have felt that I myself have ridiculed any of your posts, I apologize. I think you need to sleep over that decision. PW can sometimes feel poisonous but can also be a rewarding community, depends on what you seek. As suggested, try to avoid trolls (and I include partially myself in that description) and concentrate on the useful information only. And you can't expect everybody to like your piano, BTW. That's a normal thing and I hope you will agree.

P.S. Ohh, BTW my English is not perfect, that's been already well established. I mess up words and my way of expression can feel unnecessarily rude which I believe comes from the fact I am a Bulgarian and I've heard that the language constructs of the Bulgarian language when translated literally to English sound way too direct, rude and arrogant. So, I apologize for that too.

...?!?...Am I understand this ? You are trolling but this is normal and not personal and you tell him to go to sleep, and after that he need to concentrate to focus on useful information and that`s how he will avoid your trolling, but you will continue to do that because you don`t like his piano and you are hoping that he will agree ?!? I am not saying anything. Just repeating.

This is not a hostile environment, South America is! If you can’t handle a few jokes, then yes, by all means leave. I’m fed up with the hashtag-sensitive-crowd. We’re not here to constantly pad each other in the back.
BTW, we’re mostly making fun of Casio, not you. And yes, we also do this with Yamaha, Roland, Nord, etc... (Kurzweil isn’t even worth mentioning).

Do you think I’d be offended if someone made fun of my great P-515? No! Why would I?

I’ve been bashing the N1X for a while, but guess what? the owners get it. They know I’m -mostly- kidding, and they give it right back to me: ‘Pianoteq sounds like a CP-80’! eek wink

P.S.

Notice how I used an ‘angry’ face to indicate mock anger; quickly followed by a ‘winki’ face indicating whatever.

Pete, you are indeed a handful. Of humor, and sometimes nonsense. But hostile? Negative? Nope. Not ever.

CG, I think you're dreaming if you feel need to chastise yourself over this. You're a bright light in this shack, not one who creates a "hostile negative environment".

Indeed, there is no such hostile environment here. People comment. People agree. People disagree. That's life.

Here it resides in a bottle called a web site. But is that so very different from the human world?

It's true that a forum like PW is a microcosmos of the world at large, and that there will be the same kind of agreeing and disagreeing, etc. as in the "physical" world. But, there is not the same "tone" in the debates in all internet fora (forums?). Some are definitely gentler than PW, and some are worse (I find certain parts of Reddit to be obnoxious). I see no reason to be apologetic about behaviour that tends in the "bad" direction, and conversely lots of reason to applaud behaviour that tends in the "good" direction.

If what lies behind Tenor1s desire to leave is Casio bashing, then I feel there is some justification for the desire. Personally I find it disturbing how Casios products are being vilified by those who seem to believe that Yamaha or Kawai own a specific word (no prize for guessing which one). Hardly ever will those concede that Casios products have merit in their own right. It seems, in that particular matter, feelings dominate reason to a mesmerizing, and uncanny extent.

I don't find bashing products bad. I've been bashing pretty harshly the NU1/X's loud note issue for years. And then I ended up buying one. Bashing isn't necessarily ungrounded. It's a critique. And I will say it once again: it can be expected and is normal. Or not? And BTW Yamaha are rather bashed on this forum smile Or have been for pretty long. Things change, right. IMO Kawai used to be the better pianos. Not anymore. IMO. Is that bashing? smile

Oh yeah, how I missed that big achievement of yours, so sorry. Now you can explain that to Tenor1 and to everyone who don`t like your attitude how to be banned for life from this forum and database smile

But you were attacking a specific aspect of a specific instrument. That is not bashing the brand. I will at times state my confusion at the very stiff action in the high-end Clavinovas, but that is also not bashing a brand. Casio is being summarily dismissed by quite a few, not because their instruments are bad, but because Casio dared use the H-word.

(To me this is particularly weird, since I found the GP-300 far better than anything available from Yamaha - except the NU1 - or Kawai, when I was dp-shopping last year.)

Looks like an attempt to attract some attention to your person, IMHO. Couldn't you ask forum technicians using direct messages? Or just forget about the forum and don not care of it and your account anymore?

I think people ought not be offended so much.

If I insult you (or you insult me) ... that's cause to take offense.

But if I bash your brand of piano ... so what?
Or if you bash my brand ... so what?

I am not my piano brand. Are you? smile

I think we ought not wrap ourselves in brands.

Let me use this opportunity to apologize to propianist, karvala and slobajudge (and everyone else who I've forgotten) for a couple of spicy comments towards them. My writing was a bit pretentious a couple of years ago, nowadays I think I'm more relaxed, and while there's still things I feel strongly about, I have gotten better at articulating them in a more friendly and respectable way (I hope).

Other than this I think this is definitely one of the more friendly places on the internet. There's a genuine sense of belonging here, anyone else feel that way? I feel like this is a great place and feel right at home whenever I come here. On the other hand, I don't read too many threads about hardware so I might have missed out on some bad stuff. I certainly don't know what the OP is talking about so it looks like I've been missing quite a lot.

What are you on, Grazilerimba? Can I have some?
I’ve done the ‘deep-breathing-yoga-self-awareness’ seminars, not to mention all sorts of meds, but I still can’t get rid of hostility, per se.

You are not allowed to insult me. You’re a changed man, ‘member? cool
