Hello folks,

Is it me, or did the size of the forum's user avatar images suddenly become smaller?

The free image hosting site that I previously used for my avatar image shut down a few days ago, so I prepared a new one yesterday, following the 150x150 pixel size restriction.

However, today it seems that everyone's avatar images are around a third of the size, and that the size restriction info in the profile edit screen has changed to 50x50 pixels.

Just curious as to what's happening...

Cheers,
James

It is not you! Mine is also very small!

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.

Is this talk somehow related to the seemingly irresponsible decision to provide a longer lid stick in the Yamaha N3X (compared to N3) that we discussed in a thread dedicated to Lola and Yuja?

I sent a PM to Frank, so fingers crossed he will provide a heads up about this change, when he has time.

Yup and I have to say, I quite like the change. Cleans up the design a bit.

I like the smaller icons. I did not change mind ... and the software gave my icon a haircut.

But some people seem to have responded by changing their icons.
I used to instantly recognize people by their icons. But no longer.

Mac, as noted above, the image hosting site that used to host my previous avatar closed down, and I no longer had access to the image. Therefore I prepared a new avatar image.

The new image is from an NV10, while the old image was from an VPC1, but both show KAWAI so it should be relatively easy to recognise me. wink

James

Quite true ... but on my browser your icon shows KAWA. The "I" is chopped off.

So I searched for KAWA. Wiki says that it's a variant of the French word CAOUA, meaning COFFEE. smile

New icon? I've been using the one with the hammer action for at least a year. Is this what you see? I don't even remember what my previous icon was. Maybe your browser cached and used that old one.

Really? Can you post a screenshot please?

James, on my Mac your avatar is OK, however on my iPhone it's cropped on the right, exactly through the "I". Which is a curious thing though since it's Mac who noticed it and Mac is well-known for his aversion to mobile browsing. Mac, are you browsing the forum on a mobile device?! shocked

Yes, no problems on my desktop PC or iPad, however I just checked on my Android phone and the avatar is indeed cropped.

It seems that larger avatars are not cropped/scaled correctly when the narrow layout (which places the user info horizontally, above the post, instead of in a column on the left side) is used.

I see the same issue with your avatar also, CyberGene, although it’s less noticeable with that GP action image.

I wonder if MacMacMac is indeed browsing PW on his IPhone!

Cheers,
James

I noticed this as well on mobile Chrome on Android (not only the cutoff, the image itself is sized wrong and is larger than the table cell it sits in.

Nope, large dual-screen PC.

My icon was also cropped, so I shrank the original to 50x50 and reposted on imgur.
So I'm "Mac Trucks" once again, instead of "Ma Truc". smile

In the "body" of your post it looks good.
But in the heading it looks like this ... chopped. Actually, it's horiz chopped (Kawa) and vert chopped (missing keys):

But when I log off, PW reverts to the "default" theme, and it looks like this ... not chopped:
